Bengal Cat
Meet Chaos, a senior Bengal cat and longtime resident of Animal Tracks Sanctuary. Though advanced in age, Chaos is full of affection and charm — a gentle soul who wins hearts with every slow blink and head rub. He arrived at the sanctuary alongside Mayhem, a spirited African serval, and the two have been inseparable ever since. Despite their differences in size and species, Chaos has taken on the role of Mayhem’s humble servant and devoted companion, always staying close to her side.
While Mayhem is bold and still learning to trust new friends, Chaos is the calm in the storm — offering comfort and stability with his steady, loving nature. Their bond is unique, reminding us that connection can bloom in the most unexpected ways. Chaos’s golden years are now filled with warmth, safety, and companionship — everything a sweet old gentleman deserves.

ORDER: Carnivora
FAMILY: Felidae
GENUS: Felis
SPECIES: Felis Catus
Bengal Cats are a domestic breed developed by crossing the wild Asian leopard cat with domestic house cats. They typically weigh between 8 to 15 lbs and are known for their striking, leopard-like coats, high energy, and intelligent personalities. Bengals are highly active and love to climb, leap, and play — often displaying behaviors that echo their wild ancestry. They are curious, vocal, and form strong bonds with their humans, often following them from room to room.
Because of their hybrid origins, Bengals retain some wild traits such as a love for water, strong prey drive, and a need for mental stimulation. Though now fully domesticated, they thrive in enriched environments with plenty of toys, interaction, and vertical space to explore.
Threats
As a domestic breed, Bengal cats don’t face natural threats, but they are sometimes surrendered due to their high energy and unique care needs.
Conservation Status
Domestic Breed – Not Evaluated (NE)
Note: Their wild ancestor, the Asian leopard cat (Prionailurus bengalensis), is listed as Least Concern but faces habitat loss and poaching in the wild.
