Volunteer at the Sanctuary

Our volunteers are vital to sanctuary operations. We are always looking for dedicated people with a good work ethic to help us out. For a keeper position, we are asking for volunteers to dedicate at least 4 days a month, but other opportunities are always open as well!
Our day includes cleaning enclosures, sweeping, doing laundry, preparing diets and enrichment, doing dishes, basic maintenance, and projects around the facility. Be aware that this is hard and dirty work! In the beginning you will be shadowing one of our amazing keepers or other experienced volunteers. Our day starts at 8 AM sharp, and are usually done by 3/4 PM. If time allows, you might help during playtime, when some of the animals get enrichment outside of their enclosures (under strict supervision of the director and senior volunteers). Safety is our number one priority, for our volunteers and our animals.
IMPORTANT NOTES: for the Animal Keeper position, you must be able to volunteer on the same day each week (one year commitment is preferred).
Before signing up, we also recommend that you:
- have a current anti-Tetanus shot;
- have a current TB test;
- are vaccinated against Covid 19.
