Amazon Parrot
MANGO is a sweet and friendly Yellow-naped Amazon parrot who was surrendered to Animal Tracks so he could receive more specialized care, enrichment, and companionship. Curious, playful, and incredibly social, Mango quickly became a favorite among staff and visitors alike.
Like all parrots, Mango reminds us how intelligent and important rainforest birds are in the wild, where they help ecosystems thrive by dispersing seeds and supporting forest growth. Today, Mango enjoys a safe and stimulating home at Animal Tracks, where he continues to charm everyone he meets.

ORDER: Psittaciformes
FAMILY: Psittacidae
GENUS: Amazona
SPECIES: Amazona auropalliata
Yellow-naped Amazon parrots are incredibly intelligent and social birds native to the rainforests of Central America. Known as some of the best “talking parrots” in the world, they can mimic words, sounds, and even human emotions with remarkable accuracy. In the wild, they live in close-knit flocks and play an important role in maintaining healthy rainforest ecosystems by dispersing seeds as they travel and feed. These parrots can live for decades and require constant mental stimulation, social interaction, and space to thrive. Sadly, habitat loss and the illegal pet trade have contributed to serious declines in wild populations, making conservation and education more important than ever.
