Welcome Daredevil: A Story of Survival

Every rescue has a story — and some stay with you forever. Daredevil’s is one of resilience, compassion and the incredible impact of community care.

Daredevil is a Virginia opossum who was found after being struck by a car, disoriented and circling in the middle of the road. The accident left him with lasting damage: he lost his sight and drags one of his back legs slightly. It was a deeply traumatic experience, one that no wild animal should ever have to endure.

As a result of that stress, Daredevil developed a severe case of “crispy ear,” a condition common in opossums that can be brought on or worsened by trauma. Left untreated, it can be extremely painful and dangerous. Thankfully, Daredevil’s story didn’t end there!

He was taken in by Cleo's Critter Care, where he received immediate and expert care. They provided essential veterinary treatment, helped him through the worst of his condition, and gave him the stability and compassion he so desperately needed. Thanks to their dedication, Stevie pulled through a very critical period.

Now, Daredevil has found his forever home with us!

Because of his injuries, Daredevil cannot be released back into the wild. Here, he’ll receive lifelong care in a safe, enriching environment where his unique needs are understood and respected. We’ll continue to monitor his health closely, ensuring that his crispy ear does not relapse and that he remains comfortable, stimulated, and stress-free.
